Luke Bodmann

Luke Bodmann’s research focuses on reconstructing past vegetation and fire history in the Drakensberg using short sediment cores from a number of high-altitude wetlands in the Cathedral Peak area. The uKhahlamba Drakensberg Mountains are internationally recognised as an area of outstanding natural and cultural heritage value, in addition to providing important ecosystem services. Through its historical monitoring over the past century, the Cathedral Peak area provides an ideal location for environmental change research due to the potential for comparison of historical and palaeoecological data. This research can effectively contribute to improving our understanding of vegetation and fire management in this important catchment area. Luke is now working as an environmental consultant.
